Maybe. I've been around here a while anyhow so I can talk a little about the locals. Or the important ones so far anyhow.

You have? You were one of the first ones to wake up then... [ interesting. he tilts his head expectantly. ]

Well? Are you going to tell me?

[That said, she cocks a brow up at his oh so expectant look.]

Just cut straight to the point, huh.

[ he's still wondering if there's any rhyme or reason to that... ]

Well, why not? There's no point in saying useless things just to fill space.

We can agree on that at least.

[Alright then. She crosses her arms as she starts, glancing around them a brief moment first. Nothing she's saying is about the station or the Observers but there's no reason to start advertising anything either.]

Empress Simwe is in charge of Olympia. I've never talked to her or any of her advisors yet but the public seem to like her a lot. A while back several other people in charge of various things around town offered up jobs to anyone interested.

Ashti is in charge of the army here, Lysa runs the big clinic right in the middle of Olympia, Evras runs Simwe Institute and Koralle owns a brothel called "Shades Darker" over in the red light district. That's pretty much all I gathered when the jobs went up anyhow. I know more about "Shades Darker" than I do any of the others though.

[ Waver nods to that. Good, they agree.

He then listens to what she has to say, making note of the different names and the jobs they're attached to. He idly wonders about certain ones, thinking maybe he could find a place for himself there. The brothel is definitely not one of those places though. To that he just blushes a little and frowns. ]

Really? That's the one you know best? I don't need to know about a place like that.

It's a good place for information. I'm sure all of the others can help out with that too but if you want to know anything about stuff people might not want you to know? It helps to go to a place like that.

[She quirks her brows though. She gets the stigma and distaste for it. To be perfectly honest, she would have probably turned her nose up at it too if she hadn't been hopeful about information she may find.]

There's nothing that bad about it anyhow.

A place like that, really? [ He flushes, embarrassed by the idea. ]

I.. I'm definitely going to find my information somewhere else! As if I'd be found in a place like that! It's probably dingy and shady...

[ Mostly he'd just stick out like a sore thumb there, pretty much. ]

[Mai pauses there a moment. Then she can't help but note with some humor:]

You know, before I started working there I would have agreed with you. Dingy, shady and really who would go to that kind of place.

[Then she gives her shoulders a lax shrug.]

My opinion has changed a little now though. If that's not the kind of place you want to go though, definitely look elsewhere.

[But... she grins.]

You sound a little scared of it though.

[ He nods along to her words. See, she agrees with him. But oh, her opinion has changed? He's not so sure it'd be that easy for him. ]

I think I — eh?

[ Scared of it? That ruffles him up a bit. ]

I'm not scared of a place like that! I just don't see how it could be the only useful place, that's all!

Maybe your fear is keeping you from seeing that possibility.

And just why would I be afraid of it?

Well you wouldn't be the first person to be afraid of the idea of intimacy. And if a brothel is known for anything, it's know for that much, right?

I'm ... !!! Not afraid of intimacy! It's nothing like that! [ It totally is something like that. ] Maybe I will go check it out after all!

[At that she grins.]

That's the spirit. Don't let your fears - or lack of them, I guess - tie you down here. You'll get further that way.

[ That makes his ears go a little red. She's encouraging him... this is unexpected..!! ]

I ... I'm not going to! I'll be...fine. I can totally do this.

[ He needs to convince himself more than anything though. ]
